Hello.
I'm Mike Reid, a design director who offers creative and design direction for brands and entrepreneurs who want to make a difference to themselves and their audience.
I thrive working with global brands, small start-ups and individuals alike.
I can work across all phases of creative branding and design projects; from initial high-level creative thinking, strategy and brand definition, to working hands-on within existing projects and identities, through to the delivery and creation of final guidelines, brand assets, artworks and campaigns.
Story so far:
20 years expertise in creating thoughtful, challenging integrated branding projects for great brands and start-ups.
Believe brands need to look, speak, think and act as innovators and leaders to be noticed, respected and loved.
Deep knowledge of design and art direction craft skills to deliver fully integrated design, branding and advertising work.
Huge range of client experience, equally at ease working with and pitching to start-up entrepreneurs and global brands.
Believer in a joined-up, user-centred design approach to problem solving, with sound understanding of strategy, creative and tech.
Encourage and believe in cross discipline teamwork, and self-initiated projects.
Involved with the D&AD (New Blood and student awards), judging or creating workshops.
Always happy to contribute to extra-curricular industry activities, press and opinion whenever possible.
Graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art with a First Class Honours Degree in Graphic Design and Multimedia.
Won the Brand Identity category, and nominated for the student of the year award at the 1999 Student D&AD awards.
Started my career at the legendary (but now defunct) digital agency Deepend and have since worked at Interbrand, Albion and in-house at onefinestay.
Won some awards over the years, and always aim to create effective, challenging, newsworthy and award winning work.
Worked with great clients in most sectors including: Absolute Radio, Barclays, Betfair, Camelot, Cuervo, D&AD, Ebay, Orange, Peloton, Skype and UCL.
Slightly OCD design and vinyl geek who likes running, whisky, and the Bauhaus – but not all at once.
Born and bred in Scotland, based in London, visitor to other places around world.
